If I have a Colorado drivers license that doesn't expire for several years and live in NJ, can I go to the DMV and get a NJ drivers license?
I'll bring in what I need and I have everything. I lived in NJ for 6 years because of the military and want to get a NJ drivers license but I currently have a Colorado one
Reason being is so when I get a motorcycle certificate through MSF I don't have to fly all the way to Colorado to get my license endorsed for motorcycle vehicle driving .
My state does not send any type of waivers for this type of situation. Thanks for your time

Being in the military you can drive on your home license in any state you're stationed in. Most states also don't require you to renew your license as long as you're on active duty. However having been there and done that I also realize it's sometimes more convenient to obtain the license of the state where you're stationed. Did that several times while I was in the service and never had a problem except with an antique examiner in a small Texas town who insisted I had to take a driving test because my Tennessee license was expired but wouldn't let me take the test because I didn't have someone with a "valid" Texas license drive me to the testing station. Had no problem when I went to a larger town. They just acknowledged that it was valid and swapped it out with no test required. All the states cross recognize and you shouldn't have any problems swapping it for a NJ license.
