Summary of the history of civilization?
I read that Mesopotamia and Egypt were the first civilizations. Could anyone summarize the world's events that lead to modern governments? It will most likely be a lengthy answer so I WILL accept a best answer if I get one.

a group of nomads decided to settle down for a while and try to create structure to their lives. In hindsight, this has been seen as a very poor decision.
