Can anyone answer my question about dealing with my mother?

How do I deal with my verbally abusive mother in a Christian way. I want to keep the peace and not get into arguments with her. I disowned her years ago and she'll be a guest at the same bridal shower that I'll be attending? I won't be able to physically avoid her and don't want verbal conflicts with her. I haven't seen her in years.

Politely, calmly, ask about meaningless, harmless things like "How's your health"? or "Have you seen cousin Suzie recently"? And then excuse yourself to go talk to someone else.

yes say hi and find others to talk to or just sent a gift with some excuse why you can't attend

Ignore her, don't respond to anything she says. end of story.

I would skip the shower and just send a gift with your regrets.
