I have been SHOUTING that message for years. It also commands that you get other people so drunk that they can no longer remember their pain; trust me, that's a lot of whiskey. Sometimes, you'd be lucky to find a "Christian" who will buy a hurting person a cup of coffee or take their phone calls.

The fact is, a whole moose-loaded of "Christians" have Compassion Deficit Disorder.

    Drunkenness is a sin.

"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."(Prov. 20:1)

The fact of the matter, NO, if you are a true believer of God or a child of God or God chosen, you will not drink wine or strong drink, read Leviticus 10:9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

Mt 11:19: The Son of man [Jesus] came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners...

    IT really doesn't...not within context..

Now it does only advise against STRONG drink...and being a drunkard...

but the occasional toddy for the body seems ok.
