Occult means secret or hidden from view. By that definition the library of the Vatican is Occult. - It contains many secrets, and you aren't allowed to go looking for them - unless you know exactly what you are looking for, and with an escourt so you don't wander off, in which case it isn't a secret anyway.

"Occult" means "hidden" or "secretive".
Occult" by itself does NOT mean"bad" or "evil". Occult is a term used commonly in astronomy. In fact, this next Monday the United States will watch as the Sun is "occulted" -- hidden by an eclipse of the moon.
Spiritual Occultism often claims to "show you" things that are "secret spells and incantations", or "secret knowledge" that has been hidden from common man for centuries, or will revel to the truths that the gods have kept hidden for centuries.
IT IS ALL BULLSH*T
ANYONE who claims to give you something that only they (and you) know, or something that has been "secretly revealed" to them or their group, they are LYING TO YOU, and when this happens, YOU need to run away as far and as fast as you can!
Occultism shows up in many ways that mostr people don't; notice. In the Gas Shortages of the 1970's people were claiming that "Detroit Oil Companies" had purchased the copyrights to a New High Performance Carburetor that could giveA NY car 150 miles to the gallon. The secret had been hidden is special vaults in Detroit, so that the old, poor carburetors would use too much gas, and then the Oil Companies would charge you extra money for it -- and so the Gas Shortages started.
But now YOU can purchase this re-discovered SECRET for YOUR car, for only $49.95 plus $500 shipping and insurance! Your money back if you are not satisfied.
Of course , what got was a hceap-*** regular carburetor. and when it did not function as expected -- the company was out of business, and no place to get your money backfrom
Today, there are many websites and doctors selling a "cure" for diabetes. Based on secrets known only by the Hindus, and kept secret for thousands of years, this new treatment will CURE diabetes in ONE WEEK.
Of course, there IS NO CURE for diabetes, but it CAN be controlled. Again, you are sold a cheap worthless, and sometime DEADLY "secret" that EVERY doctor has known for yearrs -- LOSE WEIGFHT, but you have to do it using their "Special Secret Blend of spice", the contests of which are a "closely guarded secret, available only from this distributor". A blend which actually does nothing, and might contain certain herbs and even weeds, that COULD kill a person with certain allergies.!
So by CLAIMING the rediscover if "hidden " (occult) technology and secretive folk medicine, there thing, too, are OCCULT -- using HIDDEN (and false) methods to make YOU think they know something you don't.
Which I guess they do. THEY know how to cheat people out of their money (like a psychic), who also practices occultism.
