Being true to local Buddhism, one should say that any item, amulet or otherwise, is not "real" until it is blessed by a monk. Any blessed item, then, must be treated with reverence...it is not a trinket nor decorative piece.
If you mean a "real amulet" is one either made with reverence by monks or an old one that was made eons ago........ the first can be obtained from a Wat but still require blessing if you wish that. The second if old likely will be restricted from export, not taking it home, by Thai law. Only an expert can be a dependable source of evaluation.
Sadly, some people collect amulets as art pieces which they are not. A blessed amulet is good to have because it can provide the owner with a reminder of the Buddha, mindfulness. Some consider amulets like lucky charms which is a matter of individual belief with little to no Buddhist support. Thailand's local beliefs do think of lucky charms as an extension of local Bon and animism, and superstition.
PS, the word Baht is both singular and plural. There are no "Bahts."

Please define what you mean by fake.
If you want an amulet, just get it from a wat. I lived in Bangkok for a few years and now have a collection of amulets. Never paid for any of them, they were all given to me at the various wats I visited sight seeing.
Maybe I looked like I needed the "help".
