Assuming they cross in a little boat:

    1) 2 children cross

    2) 1 stays the other bring the boat back

    3) 1 adult crosses,

    4) the child bring the boat back

repeat the cycle 99 times, all adults have crossed

last trip be the two children crossing

    Total trips = 4*100 + 1 = 401

Not enough info, do they have to go back or not? Is it a bridge or boat type problem?

    Let's see...

    2 kids cross over

    1 kid comes back

    1 adult crosses

    1 kid comes back

that's 4 trips to get one adult across

    so, 100 * 4 = 400 trips to get the adults across

plus one to get the two kids onto the other side.

    hence 401 trips.
