Because New York and New Jersey don't vote Republican much. They do sometimes, but not much. They are not swing states in presidential elections.

It was blatant GOOSE stepping by REPUBLICANS, to deny ***OBAMA*** the Federal funding package he needed to supply relief funds. 23 out of 24 GOP representitives all voted NO .

Ted CRUD , tried to claim it was about fiscal responsibility......and claimed 2 thirds were not even about Sandy...........an out and out LIE. later studies and PROOF, *Proved* nearly ALL the money was for projects, directly or indirectly, caused by SANDY. THEY all voted no, and the bill PASSED anyway.

it was pure POLITICAL point gaming.........and they gambled and LOST.

The SAME idiots are now holding their hat out, asking for funds, because it's THEIR state that needs the disaster relief now. I hope NY and NJ representitives return the "kindness" and generosity, the GOP showed the North during Hurricane Sandy. .......with BOTH fingers.

Because they are jerks. And anyone saying "oh it was filled with pork"

The Congressional Research Service issued a comprehensive report on the provisions, and it’s clear that virtually all of it was related to the damage caused by Sandy. There may have been some pork in an earlier Senate version, but many of those items were removed before final passage. There were also some items that appear to have been misunderstood.

As Hurricanes go. Sandy was not even on the radar. Damn near did not

make it as Cat-1. If the Northeast had built up a infrastructure better then

a Lego community. The damage would have been minimal.

Republicans politicized it because NJ is a blue state and they like watching liberals suffer.

You decide... According to the CBO, only 30% of the Hurricane Sandy money was spent by September 2014 and 80% by September 2017. Additionally, according to a study by the Taxpayers for Common Sense and released by National Review, the bill included the following:

    – $150 million for fishery disaster areas in Mississippi and Alaska

    – $20,000 for a new car for the Inspector General of the Justice Department

    – $10.8 billion for the Federal Transportation Administration; and cancellation of loans related to Hurricane Katrina

    – $4 million for repairs at the Kennedy Space Center

    – $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center

    – $150 million for fisheries in Alaska damaged by a 2011 Japanese tsunami, which littered debris on Alaska’s shoreline

    – $2 million to fix an (apparently quite expensive) roof at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.

    – $13 billion for future flood preparations (that is, money that was not spent on victims of Sandy but on preventing future, Sandy-scale disasters from occurring)

Because there was an earmark on there to allow democrats to kill babies even if the moms wanted them.

Texans did. While I wouldn't deny them relief for Houston, I'd remind them how they denied Sandy victims relief and how they are STILL trying to recover.

Liberals also wanted to relieve the American people of their wallets. Nothing new.
