Can I include my bf in my credit card application or vice versa?

My bf and I have different bank accounts(No joining account). We both work but he earns more than me. I want to apply for a credit card and capital one says I can inlude somebody else s income as long as they are over 21 or older(So am I). So my question is can I add his income?

It would not be smart to include your BF on your credit card. Banks generally won't put authorized users on personal credit card accounts unless that authorized user is under 18. Why? Because authorized users are not responsible for the credit card debt. Making your BF an authorized user would remove the bank's secondary source of payments and its ability to collect on your credit card debt should you default for ANY reason. Many adults think they are authorized users, when in fact, they are joint owners. Joint owners can be held to pay the credit debt should the other owner default for ANY reason including BK and death.

NO, NO, & NO. Never put another person on any account of your unless they are a married spouse. If he wants a credit card he needs to apply for his own card.

if you can't get a credit card on your own merits, don't even try

this relationship may not last beyond the next blink of an eye and claiming his income for your credit is a big mistake

This is a really BAD idea. You will be responsible for any bill the other person runs up. You need to establish credit on your own rather than combining your credit to your boyfriend. I suggest you join a credit union & work with them to build your credit.

There is no such thing as a joint credit card account unless you're married. He would be an authorized user on your account. That means that you are responsible for every nickel he spends with that card and he has no responsibility whatsoever. If that's what you want to do...yes they will let you...but it would be DUMB.

If you do, both are responsible for the charges regardless who made them. If he piles up a lot of charges and ignores paying his share you will be held responsible. Not a good idea.

I would not get a credit card with my bf/gf until we were married. It can cause lots of problems in the future.

Whereas I don't know the answer to your question exactly, I do know that you could set up a business partnership and use that to get a credit card instead, but it would involve setting up what we in the UK (I don't know where you are) call a limited company and putting all your money into the business account. It isn't worth it though.
