Israel: Judge Says Jews Who Believe in Christianity Can’t Have Marriage Ceremony?

https://dstormer6em3i4km.onion.link/israel-judge-s...

http://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-1.8099...

An Israeli couple who are Messianic Jews cannot marry in a traditional Jewish religious ceremony in Israel because they are considered converts to Christianity, a rabbinical court ruled on Tuesday.

The dayanim (judges) at Tel Aviv Rabbinical Court wrote that if the couple “declares before the court they have completely given up their Christian beliefs, including their belonging to a Messianic Jewish community and missionary activities, the court will discuss their matter anew.”

The important thing to remember here is that Buddhist Jews and Atheist Jews are not deprived this right.

It is a specifically anti-Christian law.

"It is a specifically anti-Christian law."

    No, it is not.

Because you didn't take the following into consideration:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriage_in_Israel

"Marriages in Israel can be performed only under the auspices of the religious community to which couples belong, and no religious intermarriages can be performed legally in Israel.[1] Matrimonial law is based on the Millet or confessional community system employed in the Ottoman Empire, which was not modified during the British Mandate and remains in force in the State of Israel.[2]"

So, the question is quite simple.

WHICH religious community does this couple belong to?

As the religious count made clear (though that was completely unnecessary in my opinion) it is NOT the Jewish community.

In fact, you yourself imply this by labeling it as "anti Christian". If it is anti Christian, then are you not admitting that they ARE, in fact, Christian? Thus, if they are Christian they should not be allowed to have their marriage officiated by a rabbi like EVERY other Christian couple in Israel.

I'm sure they can find themselves a minister to officiate. From what I have seen, several so called "Messianic rabbis" ARE ordained Christian ministers.

Thx for the update, Juli, but where's your question? Also, neither Buddhism nor atheism are considered to be religions for the purposes of Judaic ceremonies, so that's the reason there isn't an issue with them. You would find however that if they professed to be Jewish Hindus, or Jewish Muslims, they would indeed be forbidden to marry under a traditional Hebrew ceremony. It's not a specifically anti-Christian law, it's just that Christianity is the only religion that attempts to foist it's own members as Jews.

What do you expect from an Apartheid supremacist country?

When I visited the West Bank in 2015, Zionists had roads that only Jews could access, Palestinians don't have any civil rights or Israeli citizenship so they basically have no say in the way that they are governed.
