    (2³ˣ x 2⁴)/(2³ x 2⁴ˣ) can be re-written as:

    (2³ˣ x 2⁴)/(2⁴ˣ x 2³) => (2³ˣ/2⁴ˣ) x (2⁴/2³)

    i.e. (2⁻ˣ) x 2¹ => 2⁻ˣ⁺¹

    Now, 1/2² => 2⁻²

    so, 2⁻ˣ⁺¹ = 2⁻²

    Hence, -x + 1 = -2

    so, x = 3

    2³ˣ·2⁴/(2³·2⁴ˣ) = 1/2²

    2³ˣ·2⁴·(2⁻³·2⁻⁴ˣ) = 2⁻²

    2³ˣ⁺⁴⁻³⁻⁴ˣ = 2⁻²

    2¹⁻ˣ = 2⁻²

    1-x = -2

    x = 3
