It takes good genes and a lot of good luck. Keep in mind, though, that it can be a VERY short career. You'll be over the hill quickly, unless you have another career lined up, such as acting, photography, stylist, make up artist, etc.

The typical age is 16-21. Models can be younger than this, but many agencies will require models to be at least 16. Height is typically between 5’9″-6″, bust is between 32″-36″, waist is between 22″-26″, and hips should be between 33″-35″. You need to know how to pose in child modeling, if you are over 12 and doing runway that you need to be over 5'9" with measurements within 1" of 34-24-34. No one will respect her in the industry because she would only be a model because she's "famous". Most modeling scouts look for people chiseled bone structure and high cheek bones; this is because the camera does tend to do wonders with these types of faces. An oval shaped face is ideal for modeling as it can take just about any hairstyle, short or long, bangs or all one length. This is important when a client is looking for a specific look and diversity is important. Faces that are symmetric are very important when it comes to taking good photos. While small flaws such as one eyebrow seeming to sit higher than the other can make a persons face look simply adorable in real life, there is not much room for this in front of the camera. A model should have evenly distributed facial features.
