Should I get a cat or dog?

I m really considering adopting a pet. I m more of a dog person, but since I m starting a part time job, which would be my second job, tomorrow. I m wondering if a cat would be better. My full time job I work 12 hour shifts....3 days on 4 days off, 4 days on 3 days off. If I get a dog it would be a senior dog. I have had cats before. What would be better in my type of situation? What do you guys think?? I m open to all your opinions, advise and options. Thanks so much!!

You CAN'T get a dog with that lifestyle unless you hire someone to come care for it while you are working.

Do you want to go for eight hours at night without a pee, then get one pee, then go for another 13 hours without a pee?

Cats are independent and are suited for time alone. Dogs are NOT, irrespective of their age.

For your schedule, it would be cruel to get a dog unless there was someone else at home.
