Do most Japanese Restaurants have carbs listed?

I'm a type 1 diabetic and am going to be traveling to Japan in a week. I've been to both Tokyo and Osaka before but can't remember if most restaurants had carbs listed for items ( Last time i visited i wasn't diabetic ). Or I'm guessing i'll just have to calculate an average carb amount per item.

No- in fact most menus aren't in English. Outside of the expensive tourist restaurants, you often have to just point at the pictures on the menu- or even take the server outside and point at the dishes in the window. Japanese food is very healthy, but if noodles and rice are a problem, you may have to stick to the tourist restaurants.

I've never seen the carbs listed on any restaurant menus. Yo can ask, but I doubt very many places would have such listings.

Japanese restaurants typically don't cater to specialized diets like diabetic or vegetarian/vegan. You'll have to avoid noodles and rice, or possibly tell the server (talk to them or show a note written in Japanese if they don't speak English) that you're diabetic.

    No. You'll have to calculate.
