Given three RNA sequences, which species is most closely related?
1. AUGCCAUUC
2.AACCGAUUG
3.AAUCGAACU
And could you please explain why? I picked 2 and 3, but apparently that is wrong.

1 and 2 have the most common alleles in common, so yeah, thats why. sequences one and two share 5 in common, wheras sequences 1 and 3 share only 3 in common in the same location.
Check for yourself, write out the three, highlight where any of them share an allele in common and then analyze them pair by pair.
Id just be more careful next time in comparing the set, as they it cannot just be alleles in common, but common alleles WITH the same location.
