Confederates/slave owners/KKK were Democrats, why do modern Republicans want monuments to them?

Things change with time. For instance, a long time ago all humans were black and lived in an area of Africa where Ethiopia is now.

But I do see your point now. Its admitting that their ideology has changed when they want confederated monuments to stay. On the one hand they accuse Democrats of being the original pro slave party, then they still want to keep the pro slave monuments..Having their cake and eating it too.

The democrats used to be borderline white supremacists. During the 40s Roosevelt began a liberal turn in the party. By the sixties White voters in the South began moving away from the Democratic Party they had been loyal to since the civil war. The Republicans started to create bills to satisfy their new support base. Liberals to-day are not real liberals. They have taken the idea of open mindedness and have begun supporting any new idea that pisses off conservatives.

ALL of those racists would belong to the modern Republican party...but you can insist upon living your life 150 years ago, if it helps you to sleep better at night...

I deplore the destruction of art for political reasons.

Conservatives tend to idolize the dead.

Liberals idolize the living.

maybe because it is history... We shouldn't get rid of a statue because we didn't like the person or how they were duh. Democrats are all about caring for people and garbage so let the statues be. Also what is in the past stays in the past.

They were conservatives. Lincoln was more liberal.

PLEASE, don't be as dumb as they are, OR as ignorant, pretending history is irrelevant.
