Modulo Question?

Explain how to find 3^-1 modulo 14. I do not understand what is being asked.

    Need to solve 3x = 1 mod 14

    This is a linear diophantine eqn

    But we can solve by trying values of x from 1 to 13

    By inspection we 3*5 = 15 = 1 mod 14

    and further x=5 is the only root.

    3^(-1) = 1/3

    1/3 mod14 = 5
