I live in nearby Lancaster and have lived here most of my life. It has really changed, as far as the kinds of people living here are concerned. Not for the better. Housing prices are skyrocketing in all parts of California, but the Antelope Valley area is slightly more affordable than metro Los Angeles county. Palmdale and Lancaster both have had a noticeable increase in car thefts, burglary, assault, and murder. There are lots of inner city transplants here now, which seem to be the reason for increased 'big city' criminal enterprise, in my own opinion. You'd do well to research the individual neighborhoods in Palmdale before deciding to move there.

Palmdale is fine, dont listen to these bozos who are attempting to discourage you. Obviously, you're considering commute times.

Its great if you work at Edwards AFB, but bad if you work in urban Los Angeles.

Too hot in summer, too cold in winter. All the ghetto people moved out of LA to get away from the crime, but brought it with them.
No thanks.

Unless you have a job there, it is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter Not considered the best place to live in Socal. All the heat of Vegas and none of the entertainment.
