Rat Owners! How high/low (in cm or inches) do you place the water bottle?
I know I could find this out when I get the rats It's just that the bottles I got are quite fiddly when attaching them and since you're suppose to leave rats alone at first I wouldn't want to adjust the bottle, making loud noises and possibly scaring them a little. I just want my rats to be as comfortable as possible, but thank you for your answers, they helped!

I used to breed rats for about two years and during that time I kept my water bottles (as I do with almost all my rodents) about 4" from bedding, and about 2" of bedding. So around 6" above the bottom of the cage.

I don't remember. Just make sure they can easily drink. If they have to contort to drink, its too low. If they have to stand on their tippy toes, its too high.

Not too low where the nozzle goes into the bedding, nor too high that the cage lid can't be shut properly. The rats will figure out the rest.

Avoid having it so low that the rats have to turn their heads sideways in order to reach it. Better if they can keep their head upright when drinking.

You want the spout about shoulder high or just above, Not really something critical.
