This is difficult. Depressed people can be very difficult to live with as they tend to be very inward looking. Hence they find it difficult to reach out to other people. Personally I would take him in on cndition that he foid some sort of voluntary work to do. Tis will get him out from under your feet and also give him something to look forward to, a sense of self worth and a few other things besides. He must stick with it - and/or find some paid work. Obviously it is your choice as to what you decide too do.
It is kind of you even to consider this.
Good Luck!

I would take care of them, help them seek professional help. I would help them get a job after that (when they feel ready) and then let them go, it may take some time but they will be grateful for the rest of their life and help you if you need it in the future. Mental illness should be taken seriously, I would feel so bad if I just left them out on the street..

I rather borrow/give them money so they can have a play to stay for a few days or a month. I would not invite the drama into my home. My home is my sanctuary.

No, let them find their own place to live as it can be done just like I had to do when my marriage ended and I was 40 years old with daughter and her baby.
