How many genders are there?

I believe that there are two but I’m really not sure what’s correct anymore.

Male, female, neuter. By the latter is meant sterile or infertile in which reproductive organs are vestigial or not developed to be functional. In biology we find hermaphrodites as well in which possess both male and female organs or gonad.

It varies from language to language. French has two, German has three, English has four.

Biologically there are two for all mammals. and pretty much all other animals and plants. By some definitions there could be thousands of sexes for some species of fungus but that isn't the case for humans. We just have two and the biological criteria is pretty simple. If you have a Y chromosome you are male. That doesn't mean that a male couldn't have female characteristics though. That could even extend to the brain and behavior. They would still be biologically male even if they had all female characteristics. There may be a continuum for both sexes to express different amounts of male and female where some males have very female characteristics and visa versa for females but the continuum is between male and female so that is still two. Some people don't exactly fit either criteria physically and probably mentally. It gets pretty subjective when trying to say what sex someone is when they are different then their genetics would normally suggest.

This is not a Biology question, because gender, in the terms you're discussing, is not biological. It is a social construct, and thus it is a question of sociologists, who could explain to you the various ideas and issues and concepts in a comprehensive and thoughtful way for you to completely ignore because you have no intention of actually considering changing your mind.

There are more than 2, some people are born with anomalies in there gender chromosome. Now some will say that is NOT GODLY! Well there is a fish that changes gender halfway thru life and snails are hermaphroditic. If God made them WTF! Neither decides to change genders.

There is only one RACE... The HUMAN RACE, and only TWO genders. Male and Female. Anything else is political BULLSHIT!

I'm not even really sure why people are uptight about this. When your kid says that he's an astronaut, do you yell at him and remind him that he's just a boy?

Where's the harm in playing along, or at least ignoring it? People are going to do what they want with/without anybody's approval.
