For me, I eat as healthy as I can, and don't over indulge in refined carbs, I exercise as best that I am able to on any given day, even if all the means is taking a walk or two during my waking hours. And I get plenty of rest/sleep.

Do I avoid eating sugar? No, but when I do eat it, I adjust my exercise and the rest of my carbs for the day to allow for it. I have learned since becoming diabetic, that for me, my body handles eating carbs much better than it does drinking them. I will add that I do no longer take any diabetic medications to help me control my blood sugar. And with testing before meals and two hours post meals, I am able to keep my readings in what would be considered in the non diabetic range most of the time, which my A1cs also confirm (with the last one being 5.4).

Is it work? Yes, are there days that I don't want to walk or do any sort of exercise? Yup, and are there days that I just don't want to adjust how I eat. based on what my blood sugar is or will be if I eat something I shouldn't at the moment? Sure you bet there are, but the result could be, to go back to using meds and maybe not having as good of control as I do now, getting lazy and start to gain weight or complications that are not just part of getting older.

By not eating sugar, HFCS, honey, nectar, white rice, molasses, maple syrup and white flour products (most breads, crackers and pastas)

This stuff is ALL high in fructose and killing you.

You think that I am being dramatic.

    I wish I were.
