What's the best novel of the 21st century?

Meaning, published in 2001 or later. Which one stands out? I love book recommendations.

    Hands down, "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. Runner up, "Kafka on the Shore" by Haruki Murakami. A distant third might be Jonathan Franzen's "The Corrections."

    “Atonement” by Ian McEwan

    In different categories:

    "Code of Conduct;"

    "Never Let Me Go;"

    the last 3 "Harry Potter" novels;

    "The Hunger Games;"

    "The Kite Runner;"

    "The Book Thief;"

    "A Thousand Splendid Suns;"

    "The Time Traveler's Wife;"

    "Paper Towns;"

    "Half Girlfriend;"

    "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell;"

    "The Art of Racing in the Rain."

    Would note these older, lesser-read classics:

    "West with the Night;"

    "A Dweller on Two Planets."
