Indoctrination. Religion has had it down for centuries, especially christianity.

If theists actually believed their Bull, they wouldn't force their children to take part in their parent's cult activities, but would let them decide to join in or not when they were of age.

But no, instead, they brainwash you while you're young. The problem is that the brainwashing is far less effective when your cult doesn't run the government, or the educational system. There's a reason christians are trying SO hard to push prayer and creatardism in schools. They want more converts, not an educated populace. This is most prevalent in amurica. Most of europe has thrown off this idiocy already, or at the very least, learned to coexist with it.

If they want to believe they'll find anything to strengthen that no matter how irrational it is

    Proof?

What is even rational about Atheism?

1 -- all matter-energy, space and time came from nothing, caused by nothing, without reason or purpose

2 - order came from chaos without any intelligent aid, without any reason or purpose, defying the laws of physics

3 - life magically sprang forth from non-living matter, without any reason or purpose, denying the laws of physics and information

4 - simple cell life forms "evolved" without intelligent assistance or direction, in spite of the fact that DNA code is evidence of intelligent assistance and direction

5 - consciousness ""evolved" from something that had no consciousness, disregarding the scientific fact that there is no scientific evidence that can occur by entirely natural means

6 - intelligence "evolved" from something that had no intelligence, without any reason or purpose

7 - human conscience "evolved" from something that had no conscience, without any reason or purpose

They believe in their chosen religion because Satan blinds their minds to the truth. (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4)

Not that what the Bible really teaches is silly. To say that it is would be calling God a liar.

There is no information available that disproves what the Bible actually says.

No "proof" in the world is going to convince people who do not want to believe.

No wicked person is permitted to learn the truth about God and his purpose. (Daniel 12:10)

Most religions have common elements, many are derived from earlier religions. The funny one is the prophet thing, very popular, one guy and he's always by himself, gets visited by some celestial being and writes a holy book....3 come to mind, Christianity, Islam and Mormonism. Coincidence? Not really, when making up new religions its popular to use tried and true methods. Borrowing gods and myths is popular as well, the logic is that its easier to sell to gullible people if they're already familiar with is main elements. Virgin birth was quite popular back in the day. Of course you notice just the sheer number of religions means they're all man made, a true religion would reach everyone, be undeniably true and cross cultural barriers. Seriously, Jesus was supposed to be god but only visits a small spit of land in the Middle East and left the rest of the world in the dark, a savior! lol such silliness religion is.

What information "proves" that "love your neighbor" is silly nonsense?

To some believers, faith transcends fact. The more facts fly in the face of their beliefs, the stronger their faith becomes.

They think that given facts are lies, manufactured by the devil or something. (Unless a fact should prove something in the bible might be historically accurate, of course.)

In fairness, it's more likely the creationist, fundamental Christians who will do this. Most people happily ignore things that challenge them, until they're faced by them.

Not all of us do. And the information was always available, right in the Bible, though to be able to read and comprehend it in past eras, people had to be literate, able to afford a copy, and had to have the time, inclination and intellect to be able to adequately study what they supposedly believed in. The information I'm referring to is the blatant self-contradictory nature of the Bible as a whole, which in itself, invalidates at least the "perfect, inerrant word of God" idea.

What information would that be? Information provided by people who hate what we believe? Seems a little biased to me don't you think?
