When people heard the phrase, "Make America great again," Did they think pitch in and do it, or think it was to recreate the past?

Those who like or agree with it will think the former whereas those who don't will think the latter.

Not really to recreate the past. I think it was to boost our economy, military, and not look so

pitiful and a pushover in the eyes of some unfriendly countries. Oh yeah, and rebuild NASA

after Obama defunded it, and told the NASA director his new job was "Muslim outreach".

(I guess instead of trying to reach the moon.) Quite a comedian, that Obama.

Many of us thought: Resorting to JINGOISM probably indicates that you don't have a clue about what you are doing.

Most people thought "What a stupid gimmick, especially coming from a guy whose idea of 'greatness' is to go around grabbing people's *******."

"Again" applies that one wishes to recreate the past, and think of it as you will, but I don't really think going back is any productive in trying to strengthen the hell of a country the US is now.

I must believe that the phrase is retrospective and therefore attempts to illustrate that the present has or is being corrupted or detrified in some way. having "again" surely says if not in absolute then at least in model there is a recreative element.

Not being american I can't give an inside view but I wouldn't have thought primarily of proactivity from the statement.
