Why is it not possible to take IQ tests for free?
I ve never taken one, and I ve always been curious about it. Everywhere I ve looked says it needs to be administered by an accredited educational psychologist or through Mensa, and they re SO expensive! What is it about IQ tests that makes it impossible to take a legitimate one online for a cheaper price?

Because people gotta make some money somehow. Just like why alcohol and cigarettes are still legal, to make money.

Well, I'm sure that it doesn't give an actual reading of your IQ, just an in the ball park figure. Don't rely on these tests for real IQ scores.

The Mensa test isn't that expensive, but you don't get your actual number, just if you qualify. They also often have low cost testing days.
It's because interpretation of the tests requires people who know what they are doing and that is expensive. You also pay more because the tests are copyrighted. Mensa testing is just $30 in October.
The online tests are not IQ tests. They are knowledge tests.
