Can you put rats in the bathtub like you would with a hamster?

I haven't been able to pick my rat's up yet and I need to clean their cage badly. I was thinking of putting them in the carrier they came in and putting them in the bathtub, I feel mean leaving them in such a small container for so long (I need to clean my room and cut some fleece up as well) And I was wondering if they'd be able to escape the bathtub? If so i'll just have to suck it up and leave them in a carrier for like an hour. They're teenage male rats if that matters, about 2 months old or so.

Sure, None of my ratties ever escaped a bathtub, they get treats in there, no way are they leaving. A few toys, it is like a fun Disneyland for rats.

Your rats a bit skittish to be picked up, herd them into a large drink cup and temporarily move them like that.
