Why do posh people usually have long names? (First name, two middle names, then double barrelled surnames)?

Are you referring to the British royal family? Those who are in line to the throne are given multiple names for two main reasons, to honour family members and because they are able to use any given name when they are crowned. For example our current Queen's father was crowned King George but his actual first name, and the name his family referred to him was Albert/Bertie. Prince Charles might pick George also as Charles has been quite unlucky historically for King in the UK. There's a belief that picking a popular or well liked ancestor will mean that same good luck is carried on.

Double barred surnames tend to mean two house have met and both parents want their child to carry on their name. It can also mean mum and dad didn't get married, so can be just as chavy as posh.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean because I know some people with names like this and wouldn't call them posh.

For example my cousins have 2 middle names. They have their first name, a middle name, their mother's maiden name then their last name (their dad's last name). So an example would be Amanda Marie Martin Johnson. Her brother would be Josh Charles Martin Johnson. I always found it odd but my aunt said she did this so her kids could help carry on her last name since she has no brothers to do it.
