Can the stomach flu cause fainting?
So ive only fainted once in my life. About 12 years or so ago i had the stomach flu i cant recall how long i had it prior to passing out. I just remember sitting in the toilet and feeling weird all of the sudden and my vision started looking weird like yellowish tint to the room and i screamed for someone to help me out and by the time someone got there i passed out and woke up moments later with my older sister coming in so i went to the er where i received fluids and after that i felt great. Im guessing i got dehydrated and thats what made faint. I was just curious why we can faint with the stomach flu.

There is no such thing as the "stomach flu". The illness called the stomach flu is a gastrointestinal complaint. You fainted years ago because you had a GI complaint and you may have been feeling sick at your stomach, and so you may not have eaten all day; and therefore you fainted because you had not eaten..

Vomiting and diarrhea cause fluid loss, which leads to decreased blood volume (less blood in your blood vessels). Hypovolemia (too little blood volume) causes low blood pressure, and low blood pressure can cause fainting.
