You have to balance keeping them safe, with letting them learn to make their own decisions.

    Well...it depends?

Because I've seen parents who are so actually over protective that literally all the kid is allowed to do is go to school, come home, do homework, and go to bed.

Then I've seen kids who get mad because their parents won't let them go to some high school party where their is alcohol and are screeching "My parents are too over protective". And that's not over protective at all, that's being smart. A kid has no business being at a high school party with alcohol

i think it is cause it stunts their growth that way

Nah, protect your kid from everything so when he gets older he will be the one the other kids use as a joke, Dont let him do anything for himself, so he has absolutely no life skills, make sure that he has everything he wants so he will never be disappointed. I beat pvssys like him every day when I was in school. The parent would blah blah blah about it,' my little junior is upset !" but what can they do, ( middle finger)

Depends how over protective. I'd it's taken to far, it might smother the child, leading them to an unhappy life, but a little bit of over protectiveness can't hurt

The very word "overprotective" means that the protectiveness is being taken too far.

Just the fact that you call it "over"protective means that it's all out of proportion and not in their best interests.
