Why is the US military still in the Middle East?

I'm very concerned as to why our troops are still being sent there? What's the point? We're not making any progress over there and even if ISIS gets taken out another terrorist group is just gonna emerge. Our troops have been fighting and dying over there since the bush administration. Maybe even longer. (If you count the late 80s and 90s) when are we gonna stop operating in the Middle East? We're accomplishing nothing there and it's a waste of our recourses and lives. How can anyone possibly still support this?

Stupidity. We should have nothing to do with the middle east, we as a country should transition and invest hundreds of billions into green and renewable energy. And if a bunch of barbarians wants to kill themselves that is none of our business. It always annoys me that people talk about Syria and Libya when in the Congo, Ethiopia, Sudan, Liberia, Sierra Leone you've had way-way worse civil wars, and areas of starvation and no one cares. And I also don't care about Israel but for some insane reason evangelical Christians, who love Israel, still have way too much power in this countries and Jews control the foreign policy and that is probably a great reason we're involved in that horrible horrible region.

Oil. They want cheap oil, so they are willing to let our soldiers and increase terrorism just for the oil and the money.

We are there to hopefully destroy ISIS, and other terrorist mercenaries. Yes its true we have been there a long time since before the Gulf war in reality. Some countries want us there like Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Israel to mention a few. Reservists and regular Army have been in Iraq too long. We could do wonders if we joined Turkey and just brought Syria into compliance. Iraq is another story, now that we the US have allowed Kurds to advance into Iraq, there will always be fighting.

Here's a FACTOID, ISIS became Dangerous when Obama pulled Troops and deserted them. Bush was giving Reparations and they were working with our Military. THAT is why we have a Problem. Is it any wonder that the we had more Terrorist attacks on US Soil under OBAMA than any other President in history??
