How many shootings need to occur before congress gets serious about gun control?

As long as the stance of a majority is: guns don't kill people, people kill people, nothing meaningful is going to happen. Because those people do not see guns as the problem.

I would think a sensible start would be to treat guns owners exactly as we treat car owners. You can have your guns, but the government will keep track of who owns those guns and you have to have a certain knowledge and renew your license periodically and pay some fees. Surely if we can do it for cars (cars don't kill people, people kill people) we could do it for guns. But it won't solve the problem entirely, just as it doesn't solve traffic deaths entirely. But if it can reduce death significantly, why not.

After all, we all take our shoes off at the airport because a single guy tried to blow up a plane with explosive hid in his shoe. Certainly a little inconvenience shouldn't be a deal breaker.

If Sandy Hook didn't do it, and the recent softball practice shooting didn't do it, nothing will.

Gun control laws are not going to stop a determined shooter.

We need to get tougher on criminals that use guns, but liberals are against that because too many young black males were going to prison.

Gun control will never happen in this country the house and state votes to repeal the 2A arent there, no matter what side you take on the issue thats the bottom line.

I wish I knew. Congress already knows there's a problem, but they also crap their pants at the thought of offending not only the NRA but blind/deaf gunpumpers at large.
