What if US decided to throw away one year of GDP to pay off its national debt. How broke would US treasury be? How bad?

    The GDP is not something that can be "spent" like that.

    It would be easier to sell off some of our assets such as our territories in the Caribbean and Alaska to Canada

    The govt doesn't actually get the GDP. They don't have access to that theoretical money to spend it.
