Know anything about the Boxer Rebellion?

I'm curious, and I don't know much about it. Can you tell me what caused it, or what the "Boxers" were fighting for, or what Western response was?

    The so-called "Boxers" were trying to curb the encroachment of the Western Colonel Powers into China.

    There are plenty of books about this written by real historians, and shorter explanations in textbooks of Chinese history, also written by real historians.

    Why would you rather get incomplete and probably wrong answers from ignorant teenagers on Yahoo instead of reading something written by someone who knows what they're talking about?
