I'm not Italian, but I would think a typical meal would consist of ;- Bruschetta, A Pasta & meat dish, and maybe some gelato.

There was a book about this, and the Italian family ate more bread relative to other countries.

Times change, though, that was years ago.

When we visit our relatives near Genoa... There's not a lot of difference between lunch and dinner, usually. Lunch might be leftovers though. Almost always pasta, usually a light version. Lots of fish. Our cousin likes to make anchovies, which are fresh. So they are just little fish and she fries them in various ways. If not pasta, they eat lots of potatoes. They also love BBQ no less than anybody, so we've had lots of grilled meats. We've had octopus, lasagna only once. On soccer night once we had this fried bread that I don't remember the name of, with a sideboard of cheeses and sausages. And always wine. Except for the pasta part it's not all that different from a healthy American meal. Meat, carb, veggie.
