Do you think hanging and or the guillotine would be a deterrent punishment to some of the horrendous murders lately?

    Not in the slightest. Capital punishment has never been shown to be a deterrent.

    No. Swift and regular use of the means we already have would be a better deterrent. The biggest gun in the world won't do you any good if you can't use it.

    A Braveheart-type of execution would be an excellent deterrent.

    The guillotine was invented by a French surgeon as a humane way to execute people.
