Is marketing a useless major if I want to work in sales?

I know a degree isn't required for most sales jobs, but it for sure helps. Would marketing be a waste of my time or should I do something like communications? I'm just really trying to make sure I don't waste my time and money in school

Sales is just a part of marketing, and actually... it's not the most pleasant one. Work in advertising agencies or as marketing director is much nicer and well paid... But back to your question, no it wouldn't be a waste of time, money or effort, it's really useful and it could open up many other possibilities.

Marketing is never a waste. You can't sell a product that is not properly marketed. Marketing and sales go hand in hand. It's never a waste of time.
