You can choose to drive,fly,take a bus or take the train. From San Francisco to Hawaii you can fly,cruise or sail. In how many ways can you travel from Los Angeles to Hawaii?

2. Police use various facial features to help witnesses identify suspects. One basic identification kit contains 195 hairlines,99 eyes and eyebrows

, 89 noses,105 mouths and 74 chins and cheeks.

a.) The developer of the identification kit claims that it can produce billions of different faces, is this claim correct?

b.)A witness can clearly remember the hairline and the eyes and eyebrows of a suspect. How many different faces can he produced with this information?

    1. There are four ways to get from LA to SF, three ways to get from SF to Hawaii. 4*3 is 12, so you have 12 choices altogether.

    2. 195 hairlines,99 eyes and eyebrows, 89 noses,105 mouths and 74 chins and cheeks. That's some serious math. 195 * 99 * 89 * 105 * 74 = 13,349,986,650. That's >13 billion combinations. about twice the population of earth! 8^)

    JUST hairlines and eyebrows, that's 195*99 = 19,305 possible combinations.
