Law question. If they ask you: "Did you beat your wife before 9/11?" If you answer: "NO" then they'll assume that you abused her before 9/11?

    Edit: no, they'll ask the second question to clarify it. But if the barrister doesn't ask that question and the person is accused of domestic violence and is in fact innocent, then the jury might assume that in fact he did commit the crime (violence before that date), e.g. if the person is being interrogated/questioned for domestic violence allegations. So the defendant's lawyer or even the prosecutor might ask that "second" question to clarify it. x So yes, they might assume that, i.e. if there's history of domestic violence in the accused person's record. x
