WhSmith Blue Fountain Pen - Inner Cap Stuck, Lid Won't Click and Stay On?

I brought a fountain pen from the shop WhSmith for about £4.99. It's quite a nice pen and I use it a lot for note taking. Unfortunately, recently I ran into a problem with it. There's an inner cap inside the lid (it's white and plastic) which popped out of place (when using the pen I stick the lid onto the other end for safekeeping). I tried to replace it back inside the pen lid but now it's stuck and won't budge. I can't reach it with my finger because it's a slim lid and the cap has been pushed too far down. I tried prying it out with no luck at all. This is really annoying because the lid is supposed to click when you put it back on the pen and stay in place securely, but now it doesn't click in place and keeps sliding off. I think I might have accidentally damaged it but I'm not sure. I want to get the inner cap out but it's lodged in. Although it's a very cheap pen and I could just buy a new one, I'd rather try and fix my current one first before doing so. Any suggestions? I'd be very grateful.

Update:

I think I'll hang onto my pen for now. At the moment I've put a roll of paper inside the lid to keep it in place when I put it back on the pen. I probably will replace it eventually though.

Go buy the same pen, wait two days and return the defective one for reimbursement.
