Is county property tax deductible on Fed or state in Calif? Just paid but County owes me about $40K+ but don't look like paying.?

    Federally deductible currently if you itemize, in the year you actually pay them.

    You get one property tax bill in California = not a separate bill for the individual taxations.

    You pay the bill to the county assessors but it's a STATE tax bill.

    Yes, for 2017 it is a tax deduction IF you itemize your taxes.

    Don't know what this means: "County owes me about $40K+ but don't look like paying.? "

    County property tax based on the value of the property is deductible.
