Is it better to buy a Craftsman power tool "As is" in a Sears GooB sale or a Hoosky tool at full price at Home Depot?
Where GooB means Going out of Business; and "As is" means ... no one to honor any warranty.
10 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)3 years agoCan a laptop cooling fan demand so much power that it starves the system of power, causing power failure computer shutdown?
With frequent shutdowns, especially when on line, of my Inspiron 1525 running on and powering lap cooler, I’ve also added ac fan blowing at computer top about 18inches away. I’m considering a larger, 5-fan lap pad but it occurs that powering the 4 extra fans will only add to PC power demand, and make shutdown problem worse.
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks3 years agoWhy does my Dell Inspiron 1500 keep shutting down spontaneously, as if an invisible finger had pushed and held the power switch?
It is on AC power with charged cell. Usually happens when computer is “on line.” Connection to Internet is wireless throught hot spot and Mobile1. Unit cooled by lap fan and also fan blowing on it from above about 2 feet away. Is this possibly a hardware fault, say a power switch overheat activation? Any ideas? Thanks.
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks3 years agoMy Dell LTPC w/ electronic interfaced btty incurs anomalous,.seems-heat-related fail's:uncontrolled shutdwn. Is actually btty initiated? .?
Hypothesis development— I noted that the exhaust fan expels hot air just fine. The exhaust channel & vent is adjacent to the battery compartment. It seems that if shutdown was an OS or BIOS related feature/function, then if over-temp is sensed (by computer sensor), then a controlled shutdown would be initiated. However, all indications suggest that what is happening is an uncontrolled shutdown (failure mode) by power cutoff shutdown, as if the power button were pushed and held. It occurs to me that such a failure must be due to a signal not from the system hardware but from battery self monitoring sensor and circuitry which is designed to prevent its own combustion ignition by signa ling the operating system or BIOS to remove all loads (in addition to clipped AC input cutoff)…a signal, in effect, to perform an instant power down as if pushing and holding its own power switch. Can readers confirm or refute that hypothesis.
BTW, no data loss or harm is done when this happens since data inputs are continuously shadowed and saved to an auto-recover file on a virtual D:\ drive (for Windows files) and likewise by Google (for tabbed Web pages). Google automatically queries as to “Restore pages?” upon re-connection. Windows queries similarly with the next successive start-up of the previously cut off Office application.
1 AnswerEngineering3 years agoSuggest material & substance (i.e., solvent or cleaner) for use 2 remove superficial rust from the spindle surface of Ragr steering knuckle?
I had removed rotor in preparation for bearing replacement to match destroyed bearing replacement on opposite wheel. However, the spindle was exposed during a period of inclement weather and gathered superficial rust on the bearing surface. I need to remove the rust to return spindle to shiny bright before refitting rotor (disc) with packed new bearings.
• Machining the spindle is not an option.
• Replacing the spindle is not an option.
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs3 years agoHow can I change my default email from a former, primary service.?
Before I quit AOL as my ISP before it was acquired and became non-disreputable, it was my default email server. But now my primary email is with a different carrier The problem is that when I want to respond, say, to a new report by email, the aol browser and email opens instead of my preferred email service. It's annoying because I have to take numerous extra steps to direct the email using a a email sender address at which I can receive a reply.

permissiveness towards violence public and private by NFL (and AFL) defensive quarterbacks be a defense in so-called domestic violence prosecutions?
As a victim of such an act in the parking lot of a night club on Greenville Avenue in Dallas when a visiting team’s drunken, defensive back threatened battery in conjunction with damage intentionally inflicted without provocation upon our vehicle (with us in it), it seemed unjust at the time that there was nothing that could be done for such blatant violence off the field of play by pro football players. Later I was to find that bully Billy Martin (Yankees manager and former player) was allowed to escape prosecution after an assault (which got him decked by a former employer of myself) in a night club in Arlington, home field of the Rangers (former Senators).

Keeping a personal glossary, I had always recorded MS's statement, "Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2005 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved," just in case a credit were ever needed. Now, a mass deletion of all those advisories would free up disc space and make word scrolling faster.
