How can I connect a printer on my pc?

You can connect your printer and computer through various means such as USB cable connection, LAN cable connection and Wireless cable connection. But even before doing that, you need to download and install the printer driver on your computer. If you don’t install the printer driver on your computer and attempt to connect it to the printer, your computer will not recognize the printer and you cannot access the features of the printer from the computer. You must have installed the printer driver for the previous version of your computer’s operating system. Log in to the authentic website of Lexmark and key in the model number of your printer. Choose the OS version of your computer. If you choose the wrong OS version, you might not be able to install the printer driver on your computer. Open the downloaded file on your computer and follow the prompted instructions to install it. Select one among the three connection modes when prompted by the driver installer. Connect your printer to the computer after receiving the command.

Follow the steps below to connect your printer to your PC.

Make sure that you insert the installation CD into the drive. You can also download the driver from the Lexmark Technical Support website using the Drivers & Downloads section.

Now, save the file xxxx.exe based on the OS to the desktop and then double click on it.

You may notice that a Welcome screen appears. Select Install. You may notice that select your included software may appear. Make your selection and then click Continue.

You may notice that the Match the Wi-Fi indicator window appears.

Make sure that you select the orange icon if the printer is installed for the first time, or not detecting the previously used Wi-Fi network.

Select the green icon if the printer was installed before. You may notice that on the next screen the installation software verifies the location of the access point or router.

When it is confirmed, tap Yes. If the access point or router has the Wi-Fi Protected Setup option on the next screen, tap Yes. If it doesn't have it, make sure that you select No.

Ensure that you connect the installation cable to continue the setup. Once connected, tap Continue. You may notice that the printer may start to search for wireless networks. Here, all the found wireless networks will be listed.

Once the selection is done, tap Continue. If security is enabled on the Wi-Fi network, it may prompt for the Network key (passphrase). Now, a Network Settings Summary may appear.

Make sure that you Review the information and if all is valid, tap Continue. Now, the printer may try to connect to the wireless network.

You may notice that it may print a Network Settings Page (Ethernet 802.11b/g/n) automatically when it has made a successful connection. Once this completes, unplug the Installation Cable.

If it is successful, the Connection Successful screen may appear. On tapping Finish, you may notice that the print sample page may appear.

Now, check the status of the printer. Tap whether or not to Register my product or to take part in the Lexmark Connect program and then click Continue. When you notice Thank you, tap Finish.

If you want to check the printer status on the printed Network Settings Page, you can find the printer IP address at the TCP/IP section in the Address line.

Probably there is no driver supplied for your printer now. What version of Windows have you updated to and you may get a more definite answer

Look for Lexmark drivers in your search engine, input the Windows version and the model number of the printer and download the drivers. They will be free of charge if you go to the Lexmark site.
