What to do on the first day at Work?

So I recently got a job and was hired. Since I was hired I have had little communication. I do know I start tomorrow at 5:30. I’m a highschool student with this as a first job at jersey mikes subs. What do I do when I walk in the store? Do I just sit and wait for the manager? Do I contact him on text and what to say? Because I’m not just going to walk in to the employee section without know what to do haha

Go to the counter and ask for the manager, or text him. Don't just sit down and wait.

Congrats on your first job! I know how it was when I started my first job. It was so nervewracking the first day!! I actually started a new job today at a restaurant too. My first day went absolutely amazing. And yours will too! What I did was I walked up to the counter like a customer would and asked to speak to the manager. He came to the counter and recognized me cause he's the one who hired me and took me in the backroom to meet the other staff.

After I met them, it was time to work! I began cleaning the liquor glasses and getting the stuff ready to set tables. Basically helped out any of the staff who needed help and the day went amazing for my first day. Never just sit down and wait for the manager or someone to get to you. If he doesn't get to you in time, he might not know you're there and you will be late to work.

Texting your boss that you're on your way is okay if they allow you to text them otherwise no. Just walk up to the counter and ask one of the staff to go get him. If they say he's busy and ask why you're requesting him, tell them that today is the day you start working there and they will go grab him from whatever he is doing to attend to you lol.

Idk how it is at Jersey Mikes but that's how it was in the place I started at today. They started yelling all excited "THE NEW GUY IS HERE GET TO THE COUNTER NOW!!" and he came in within seconds! The first day at any job is always very scary but once you start to know everyone and get accustomed to their routine, the rest of the week will be a breeze. Just be polite to everyone and dress to impress! Good luck :)

Walk in, tell them that you were just hired and you are here for training.

You get there on time and tell the manager that you are there. You don't just sit and wait for them to notice you.

Walk up to the counter and talk to somebody trying to find the shift lead and explain who you are.

Ok so you are supposed to report to work and be a normal person and say who you are and why you are there. I don't get it, why are things so complicated for you young and dumb? Good grief!!!

Source(s): I am pretty sure the manager informed them of you.

You get there BEFORE 5:30, appropriately dressed for work, and ask for the manager or tell a person at the counter that you are a new employee starting at 5:30, and ask them where to put any personal things, who to see, who is going to start training you.

    No sitting around!

No, you don't just sit down and assume the manager will find you.

Go to the counter or customer service desk - tell them who you are, why you're there and the name of the person you're reporting to.

Also 5:30 is the time you need to be there and ready to start work (or more likely on your first day, induction training). NOT the time you need to arrive.
