It is much easier to deceive someone by promising one universal truth that should never be questioned than someone who constantly questions every premise they have.

If I am ever deceived, it doesn't last long because I am in the habit of questioning everything, even those things I find helpful or comforting. If your ideas stand up to both scrutiny and new evidence, they are far more likely to be correct.
