Social Media are part of today’s workplace yet their use is recently raising concerns especially about employment discrimination. Would you rather create a "lighter version" of your life to be shared to avoid negative consequences and comply with social norms, or use them to put up a status and a point about your true self?

Employers should block the use of chit chat on social media during work hours.

"recently raising concerns especially about employment discrimination" No, that's not true.

If you are worried that you won't get hired because your employer looks at Facebook and sees you partying and acting like a fool, that's not discrimination.

Social media IS NOT part of an employee's worklife unless they are specifically told to do so. Social media is the "private" part of one's life. It is not even close to illegal discrimination, because social media is not a protected class.

If you choose to make the company you work for look bad on social media, you can be fired. YOU are a representative of your company.

But the bonus is this. Employers now look at social media and can tell if you're an @$$hole right off the bat and simply won't hire you.

It is perfectly ok to have filters. In fact, it's recommended.
