The TSA doesn't give a crap how much cash you carry with you. In fact it's none of their business. Telling them would be a stupid thing to do on your part.
The real question is, Are you prepared to fly back home if the car isn't everything you thought it was. What are going to do if the seller lied or if the car doesn't meet your expectation or if the seller doesn't agree to your offer.
Assuming this is a 'done deal' before you inspect the car in person and test drive it is a foolish thing to do.
Are you prepared to pay the taxes on the purchase price when you get the car home.

Cash issues aside, you're going to pay the cost of a flight to buy a car you haven't seen or driven? You must be insane.

The TSA doesn't give a rat's a$$ if you have cash on you -- nearly everybody does. However, you don't sound smart enough to go buying a car out of state with cash. Have you seen the car, have you driven it, have you had it inspected by a mechanic, have you seen the seller's title, is it "clean'?, and most importantly, do you know what you are doing ???

Never buy a car in full cash as you are buying it "as is "when you do. Make sure you have clear title of the car as well.
TSA might think you are into something illegal with that amount of cash on your person . Like mustanger advise met up at the DMV to seal the deal . At least there you will get the tittle at the same time.
Make sure a local certified mechanic looks under the hood as well before you hand over any cash. Get it in writing from this shop.As this car is going out of state, there might be a tax from this state and your home state as well. Look on both states's DMV web sites for any additional paperwork you might need. You will have to deal with getting tags for the car from both states , the state where you bought the car and later your home state.
Notify your insurance company so you will be covered as well on the drive back to your home state.

I don't think so. But call first.
Bigger issue is buying a car you haven't driven first.

Make sure you meet the seller in a well lit and busy place. Better yet at the local DMV so you can transfer the title as well. Just this last week a man in Houston went to meet a buyer for his Audi and didn't return. His body was found floating in the bayou several days later. His car hasn't been found yet. Protect yourself.

If you do that, they (T.S.A.) will take all of your money and claim it was made from selling drugs.
They (the cops) are calling it CIVIL FORFEITURE and are doing this NATIONWIDE. They don't even have to charge you with a crime.
get a cashiers ck instead.
I see stories on Yahoo all the time about this happening everywhere.....Look it up if you don't believe me.
