Criminals won't obey the law so then you have to consider does a gun make your chances better. I think if you are a woman yes it does. Also if you are a woman with children and someone breaks into your house the answer is also yes.

    Absolutelt not

Only if you believe the outright lie that says " I have a gun therefore I am safe"

The fact of the matter is that in almost all real life personal threat situations a gun has the utility value of a paperweight.

The reason.that's true is that almost all human predators are opportunistic ambush predators

Thus a person armed with a gun will be a statistic before they can get a shot off

    No.

The current procedure to get CCW permits involves an extensive background check to ensure no felons or people otherwise ineligible to handle weapons will be allowed.

IF everyone that was eligible went out and spent the $150 to get training and a permit, AND the media started broadcasting that everyone that was eligible for a CCW had received one, crime would certainly drop.

Crime is not committed by CCW holders. However CCW holders scare the h@ll out of criminals. If 10% of the population had CCW permits and carried, in a public area of 20 people, 2 law abiding citizens would likely be carrying. IF someone attempted an armed robbery, they would likely be met with deadly force. This is a proven deterrent against crime.

Areas that have Concealed Carry are already safer

Hell we've seen this in real life already.

Between 1993 and 2011, three things happened.

    1. 140 Million guns were purchased by law-abiding citizens. We know this through FBI background check data.

    2. The number of states adopting "shall issue" concealed carry permits jumped from 17 to 42.

    3. The rate of gun homicides declined by 39% and the rate of gun crimes declined by 69%.

Putting more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens and making it much easier for those same armed citizens to carry the guns with them resulted in a huge drop in gun homicides and gun crime.

Now I can't definitely prove that was the cause for the decrease in gun crime, but more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens sure as hell didn't increase gun crime!

If Americans are allowed to keep and bear arms, as required by the American founding document, THEY will be safer from violent insane Democrat criminals, who have been granted early release. But no, the country will not be safer, as violent criminals rarely beat a country to death, only people.

Source(s): However, I once saw a paroled Democrat violent criminal, beat a coke machine. But mostly they prey on people. I am not for arming coke machines.

What about guns? Even if it is easy to get a permit, unless ammunition and guns are also easy to get the people are still effectively disarmed. "Here's your gun. Good luck getting bullets. Here's the permit. Good luck being able to afford a gun."
