Does a first time police officer change into their uniform before or once they get to the station?
Basically I m writing a script and I don t know anything about cops etc. Do cops change into their uniform before they get to the station or when they get to the station? Also I need a little advice on cops and the many experiences as a rookie. Thank you.
Also, what do Rookie cops do on the first day? Are they held in a room and tortured by the commissioner? I seriously need all the information I can get.

....I am a retired police officer. I retired as a sergeant, after 29 years, from a very large department, about 12,000 officers. I was a patrol officer for 4 years in a very diverse area. I was a tactical officer in the high rise project areas of my city. We called it vertical patrol in that we walked the the stairways of the high rises most of the time. I did that for 5 years and was promoted by test to detective. I worked violent crime (homicide, sex, officer involved shootings, robbery, kidnapping, serious non property incidents) for 11 years until I was promoted to sergeant. I worked as a street supervisor, a bicycle patrol supervisor and a desk sergeant/watch commander.
During my time as a tactical officer and a detective I was a unit representative for the police union.
I have a B.A in English and an M.S. in Law Enforcement Administration....

Well if that's the kind of rubbish your going to be writing then you will gather enough reject slips to paper every room in the Empire State Building.
No body cares when a cop put's on his blues.
ACTION ACTION ACTION But your clearly too thick to be able to write a proper question let alone a script

Totally depends on the department and the officer's preference. Some have locker rooms, but many do not. Some officers run errands before/after work and don't want to wear their uniform.

Here in my state within the Queen's Commonwealth of Australia - police officers are required to leave their uniforms and service weapons in the lockers within the police station otherwise criminals could follow them home and peform all sorts of evil actions or possibility of stealing their gear besides, if police officers were to travel to and from the station the folks would expect some kind of help similar to when people discover someone is a doctor and expect free medical advice.

Cops change into uniform when they get to the station. Otherwise, they would appear to be on duty as they drove, wearing police uniforms in civilian cars, or taking a bus to work. However, because they wouldn't really be on duty, they would give the wrong impression to civilians seeing them not alert or driving regular cars instead of patrol cars.
