Is there a TV repairman in the house?

I have a 43" LCD tv and just lately, I've noticed dark and light areas across my screen, even when the screen is "blank". Is it fixable at reasonable price?

Generally, modern TVs are not repairable. You'll end up spending more on repairs than what a new TV costs.

If the TV is no longer under warranty, you'll have to go shopping. If possible, wait until mid-late January. This is when stores put all their "old" TVs on sale because the new model year is starting and they need the room. You can often get deals that are as good as, if not better, than Black Friday (and no lines, no "only 1 of this model", etc.)

Some variation in illumination is normal with LCD screens,

so it might not actually be a repairable problem.

Consult a local TV technician for an evaluation.

Thats most likely a defect in the screen, the Polarising filter on the actual screen might not have been put on correctly when it was manufactured.

I have no idea about cost of fixing it. Probably more then the TV is worth, seems to be the way with electronics these days. If it's new, send it back.
